Chapter 2: Thanksgiving 2023: The Day I Chose Connection Over Control
In this video, I take you into one of the most emotional decisions I’ve made as a mother. It begins on Thanksgiving morning…me in the car, trying to reach my daughter, not knowing if she was safe, but determined to bring her home for dinner. For years, I’d been told to draw hard lines: No holidays. No contact. No exceptions while she’s using.
But something in me had shifted.
Included in this video is a clip I recorded the day before, where I share what led to this change. Why I decided to meet my daughter where she was, not where I wanted her to be. Because this year, I didn’t want an empty chair at the table if I could help it. I wanted my grandson to hug his mom. I wanted her to know that, even in her darkest moment, she was still part of this family.
This video is for every parent wrestling with what love should look like when addiction crashes through your home. I still believe in boundaries. But sometimes, connection is the thing that changes everything.
